Thom Blog: Arthritis, Atari Jaguar and Apple – Not Exactly What I Think As Triple A…

My Damn Arthritis

Well i shall start off by saying that Arthritis/ Ankylosing Spondylitis and video gaming does not go hand in hand.

The reason why I wasn’t present for the 9th episode of the season was due to the conditions I listed above, and frankly it was about of an eye opening experience.

The two days I spent flared up to the extreme where I couldn’t play, move or even live the way I like to live at the age of 27 has me frightened for when I eventually reach my 50’a and 60’s. Will I be able to play my video games collection when I can retire? Well as much as I don’t want to admit it’s unlikely however, I’m not going to dwell on the future and instead I want to make the most out of now, my collection and the games I plan to acquire in the meantime. But for me I just had to get that out there and out of my mind. So if I miss an episode or another blog etc it’s very likely due to my anxiety and/or arthritis.

Retro Obsession

Oh my god I love retro gaming, the retro consoles and the whole feel of the games that paved the ways of the gaming world that we as a community love today. I have nearly all the consoles that I could ever wish to own (still considering Hayden’s offer of £1000000 for his 3DS haha). But there is one console that has become prevalent in my mind, Atari Jaguar.

The first ever 64 bit console (if you do the math and believe the adverts) is something that is like a lost love for me. I’ve had a taste of the likes of what Atari Jaguar offers with the 50 Atari anniversary collection and frankly I want more!

The console didn’t do well with sales making obtaining the console quite rare but I honestly believe that I can get my hands on the console and once I do get my hands on it and add it to my collection, I can say that I am pretty much content with my collection and begin to calm down with my purchases.

However, this is me and it’ll be very very likely that I will never stop this collection and bankrupt my household… AND IT’LL BE TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Apple WWDC Event – June 5th 2023

Last year we saw Apple optimise Resident Evil Village for the M1 and beyond M series chip MacBooks and frankly I am extremely interested to see what can happen with this year.

Apple may reveal their VR headset as a gaming device and I hope to see more M chip based games – especially now we have a MacBook in the house because why not. Now I don’t expect to see anything as extreme as an Apple gaming device or a gaming themed MacBook however, I just have a sneaky feeling that with how well the reception was for RE Village I wouldn’t be surprised to see more games optimised for Apples Silicon chips and MetalFX (which is like NVIDIA DLSS).

Needless to say I am interested to see what comes around on June 5th.
